Why early childhood play-based learning is vital for their development

Youngacademics, 18 Oct 2022

Early learning centres can play an important role in guiding your toddler through the first steps in developing their sense of identity, through play-based education programs that build their skills to reach each milestone.

Children learn better when they play

Child development experts have long recognised play-based learning as the most effective method to enhance your child’s natural curiosity and desire to learn, as they find the most creative ways to solve problems. The childcare environment provides many opportunities for your child to engage in play-based learning. Imaginative play challenges children’s thinking skills and cognitive development.

Through national guidelines such as the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and in-house educational programs, such as the Evolution Program at Young Academics, children who attend child care are exposed to curriculums that child development experts have developed to foster teachable moments, preparing them for a lifetime of learning.

An enriching and engaging experience

We believe toddlers learn through exploration and discovery at Young Academics Early Learning Centres in Sydney. Our toddler program (0-3) promotes positive learning through play, where our educators lead the way for your child to discover, create and problem solve. This is done in both indoor and outdoor learning environments designed to enhance every child’s experience allowing them to learn, develop and explore through texture, space and colour.

What is the Child Care Subsidy?

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is how the Australian Government helps families pay for the cost of child care. By providing financial assistance and support to families using Early childhood Education and Caring (ECEC), its aim is to make child care easier and more affordable.

By subsidising some of the fees from your child care provider, you pay only part of the full cost. However, the amount of CCS your family can receive depends on your specific circumstances.

Services Australia looks at:

  • A family’s combined income
  • How many children you have in care
  • The age of the children
  • A family’s activity level (i.e.: hours of paid work or approved training/ study)
  • The type of care you use
How to claim the Child Care Subsidy

To claim the CCS, providers (your child care centre) must first be approved by the Department of Social Services. Children who attend care must be enrolled, and you must report those care sessions. The CCS is an online system that then uses this information to calculate payments for families.

The CCS is means-tested and paid directly to providers, who then pass that fee reduction on to families. At Young Academics, we want every child to benefit from having access to our signature quality early learning programs. As a registered childcare provider, families enrolled with us are eligible for CCS benefits.
