Early Child Care Learning

Early learning refers to any educational program prior to attending Kindergarten. At times, the relevance of sending your child to childcare is often overlooked.

“The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six.” - Maria Montessori

Young Academics is confident in the perks of early child care learning. Sending your child to childcare from an early age to participate in early learning offers them an opportunity to gain an insight into the crucial elements of social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

What is Early Child Care Learning?

Learning is multifaceted. For children, it cannot be confined into a room, a worksheet, a book or even an educational App on your iPhone. It involves multiple resources, multiple people and multiple attempts. All of these are at your child’s disposal at Young Academics’ Early Learning Centres, located around Sydney.

Early learning aims to enhance early child development and care through fulfilling educational outcomes which enhance:

  • Physical activity
  • Social skills
  • Creativity
  • Cognitive understanding
  • Emotional development and care

Young Academics acknowledges that learning comes in stages; milestones per say. Swiss psychologist, Jean Piaget, categorises cognitive development in four stages:

  • Sensorimotor Stage: Ages 0-2
  • Preoperational Stage: Ages 2-7
  • Concrete Operational Stage: Ages 7-11
  • Formal Operational Stage: Ages 11+

This denotes that 50% of cognitive development occurs before formal schooling, highlighting the importance of enrolling your child into an early learning centre. Without childcare, preschool programs and/or specified early learning programs, we daresay, your child is not given maximum opportunity to optimise half of their educational development prior to the commencement of Kindergarten. an expression of the fundamental values which are shared by all members of the commencement of Kindergarten.

The Young Academics Curriculum

Young Academics Curriculum is an ongoing process. This means there is a consistent review of programs, placing each individual child’s needs in the forefront as they move forward with their learning. This means that we acknowledge that no two are the same. Our main aim is to teach your child age-appropriate skills necessary for stages in their lives.

In alignment with ACECQA’s Quality National Standards and the EYLF, Young Academics curriculum serves to cater to the 2 stages relative to pre-school learners:

  • Sensorimotor Stage (0-2 years):

The first two years of life are crucial to the physical development of your child. Our Infant Baby Care Programs are specifically designed to assist your child in mastering physical reflexes and understanding objects in a physical environment. Young Academics achieves this through:

    • Sensory play
    • Music play
    • Creating a routine
  • Preoperational Stage (2-5):

Children, during this stage, build on the capacity to communicate verbally, manipulate objects, play symbolically and make connections amongst objects and people surrounding them.  Our Pre-School Programs encourage ‘children’s choice’ and school readiness through:

    • Play-based learning
    • Self-help skills
    • Social skills
    • Cognitive focus
    • Imaginative play
